Manifestum

Manifestum was founded in 2010. An important reason for starting a new choir was the singer’s wish to perform choral music with a classical ideal of singing. The choir performs gems from the male voice choir repertoire from various epochs and offers its audience interesting programs – with surprises, yet without forgetting traditions. In addition to well-known compositions the choir performs works that develop the musical level of the choir.

A part of this ambition is to regularly perform larger compositions. Manifestum co-operates with other actors in the field. It’s important for the choir to perform music that develops its singers technique. Under it’s new conductor Jonas Rannila Manifestum has developed by leaps and bounds.

In the 2015-16 term we performed Johannes Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem together with experienced ladies’ voices; two Christmas concerts and two concerts called ”Romantics and Modernists”. The latter included a first performance of Leif Segerstam’s composition Lokomokokomotiivi, dedicated to Manifestum.

In October 2016 Manifestum performed, together with Somnium Ensemble, Carmina Burana by Carl Orff. The performance was greeted by standing ovations and very favourable press. For Christmas 2016 we had three performances of Camille Saint-Saëns Christmas Oratorio arranged for a male voice choir.
